Clear Scanner — Privacy Policy

Summary Clear Scanner is a free app for scanning documents, converting images and creating PDF and Word files, with a 2FA code generator. It works on your phone. Your photos, documents, signatures and 2FA accounts stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. The app has no accounts and no sign-in.

Data stored on your device only

  • Scanned pages, documents, folders and the files you export.
  • Signatures you draw.
  • 2FA accounts (names and secret keys), kept in Android's encrypted storage. They are excluded from cloud backups and are deleted when you uninstall the app. You can make your own password-protected backup file; it is encrypted on the phone and saved wherever you choose.
  • Your settings (language, design, fonts, filters).

Camera and photos The camera is used only while you scan documents, QR codes or take a passport photo. Images you pick from the gallery are processed on the phone. Nothing is sent to us.

What the app downloads

  • App settings from our server (www.payate.com): whether small banner ads are shown, the banner images and links, an update notice and the share message. This request contains no personal data; like any web request, our server sees your IP address in its logs.
  • Language files for text extraction (from GitHub; the Huawei AppGallery version already includes Arabic and English) and optional fonts (from Google Fonts), only when you first use them.
  • Banner images, when ads are turned on. Tapping a banner opens its link in your browser.

Google Play services Some features use Google ML Kit through Google Play services on your phone: the quick document scanner, the QR / barcode reader and background removal for passport photos. The processing happens on the device. See Google's privacy policy.

The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (by Google) for two things: a silent "settings changed" signal, so ads and notices update right away, and notifications from us, such as news and offers. For this, Firebase creates an installation ID for the app on your phone. The app joins a general group for its language, so these messages carry no personal data, and we never receive or store this ID. You can turn notifications off in the app's Settings or in your phone's settings; the silent signal shows nothing on your screen.

Sharing We do not sell or share personal data, and the app contains no third-party analytics or tracking. Files leave your phone only when you share or save them yourself.

Children The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.

Deleting your data All data is on your phone. Delete documents or 2FA accounts inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything. Details: How to delete your data.
