Methodology
How our generators and checkers work, and why every value they produce is synthetic.
1. Card number format & the Luhn algorithm
A card number is not random. Its length and structure follow the public ISO/IEC 7812 standard: the first digits are the Issuer Identification Number (BIN/IIN), the middle digits are the account number, and the final digit is a check digit. Our generators build numbers that match a chosen BIN and then compute the last digit with the Luhn algorithm (mod-10 checksum) so the result is well-formed. This is exactly how the format is validated in the real world — and it is a format check only.
2. Everything is synthetic
The numbers, names, addresses and profiles our tools produce are generated at random within valid formats.
- IMPORTANT: a generated number passing the Luhn check means only that its shape is valid. It is not issued by any bank, carries no funds, and has no valid expiry, cardholder name or CVV. It cannot be used for any real payment.
3. BIN & bank identification
Our BIN Lookup maps the leading digits of a number to publicly documented issuer ranges to show the likely card brand, type, level and issuing country. This reference data describes number ranges, not accounts, and is used purely to explain what a BIN represents. It never reflects a real cardholder.
4. Address & profile generation
The Address Generator builds coherent sample identities: the name matches the selected gender and country, the city belongs to the chosen region, and the phone's country and area code match the address. This coherence makes the data realistic enough to exercise a form or shipping check, while remaining entirely fictional — no entry corresponds to a real person or household.
5. Checkers & sandbox testing
Our verification tools run structured, format-level passes and group the results (for example valid, declined or unknown) so a batch is easy to read. They are designed for sandbox and QA use — testing how your own forms, parsers and payment integrations behave — not for interacting with live payment networks. For the intended uses and limits, see our Disclaimer and Terms of Service.
