What is Base64?
Base64 encodes binary or text data into a set of 64 safe ASCII characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /). It is used to embed data where only text is allowed — data URLs, email attachments, JSON fields, JWT parts and API tokens.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption — it hides nothing and anyone can decode it instantly. Never use it to protect secrets; use real encryption or hashing for that.
Why does my decoded text look wrong?
The input may not be valid Base64, or it may decode to binary (like an image) rather than readable text. This tool decodes to text; for binary payloads the raw bytes may not display cleanly.
Does it handle Unicode / emoji?
Yes. Encoding works on the raw UTF-8 bytes, so Unicode text and emoji round-trip correctly through encode then decode.
Is my input stored?
No. The conversion runs for that request only and nothing is stored in a database or log. Avoid pasting secrets you do not want to transmit.
