Binary Translator

Convert text to binary and binary back to text, with decimal and hex output and full Unicode support. Everything runs in your browser — your data is never sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

How to use the binary translator

  1. Type or paste into the Text box to see the binary appear instantly in the Binary box.
  2. Or type binary (8-bit bytes, separated by spaces or new lines) to decode it back into text.
  3. Pick a separator for the binary output and copy any box with its Copy button.

Each character becomes its UTF-8 byte values, and every byte is shown as 8 bits — for example Hi is 01001000 01101001. The decimal and hex lines show the same bytes as numbers (72 105 and 48 69).

Frequently asked questions

What is a binary translator?

A binary translator converts ordinary text into binary (the 0s and 1s a computer uses) and binary back into readable text. Each character is turned into its byte values and each byte is shown as 8 bits — for example the letter A becomes 01000001.

How is text converted to binary?

The text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes, then every byte is written as an 8-digit binary number. Plain ASCII letters are a single byte, while accented letters, non-Latin scripts and emoji use several bytes — so they correctly round-trip through encode and decode.

How do I convert binary back to text?

Paste your binary into the Binary box. Groups are read as 8-bit bytes separated by spaces or new lines; if the spaces are missing the input is split into chunks of 8 automatically. The bytes are then decoded back to text with UTF-8.

Why did my binary fail to decode?

Decoding fails when the input contains a character that is not 0 or 1, or when the total number of bits is not a multiple of 8. Remove stray characters and make sure every byte has exactly eight digits.

What are the decimal and hex outputs?

Alongside binary, the tool also shows each byte as a decimal number (0–255) and as hexadecimal (00–FF). These are just other ways of writing the same byte values and are handy when working with character codes.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. All conversion runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. It is safe for text you would not want to transmit.
