Frequently asked questions
What is Markdown?
Markdown is a lightweight plain-text formatting syntax created by John Gruber. You write readable text with small marks — # for headings, * or _ for emphasis, - for lists, [text](url) for links — and it converts to clean HTML. It is used everywhere from README files and GitHub issues to notes apps and static-site generators.
Is my text stored or uploaded?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser with the open-source marked library — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. You can safely paste private notes or drafts.
Which flavor of Markdown does it support?
It uses marked, which follows the CommonMark specification plus GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) extras such as tables, fenced code blocks, task lists and automatic links. Most Markdown you write for GitHub or docs will render the same way here.
How do I copy the generated HTML?
The HTML source box below the preview updates as you type. Click the Copy button in its header to put the full HTML on your clipboard, then paste it into your web page, email template or CMS.
