How to use the meme generator

  1. Click choose a file or drag & drop an image onto the box above.
  2. Type your top and bottom captions — they appear on the image instantly.
  3. Tweak the font size, text colour and outline colour, or turn off ALL CAPS to keep your own capitalisation.
  4. Click Download meme to save it as a PNG.

The caption uses the classic meme style — bold uppercase with a white fill and black outline — and text automatically wraps to the width of your image. Your picture never leaves your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How does this meme generator work?

Pick an image from your device (or drag & drop it onto the canvas), type your top and bottom text, and the classic meme caption is drawn live on the picture. When it looks right, click Download meme to save it as a PNG.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is loaded and drawn entirely in your browser using the HTML canvas — it is never uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. It is safe to use photos you would not want to transmit.

What is the classic meme font?

The traditional meme look uses a heavy condensed font — Impact — in white uppercase with a black outline. This tool uses a system font stack ending in Impact / "Arial Black", so you get the same bold caption style your device can render.

Can I change the text size and colours?

Yes. Use the font size slider to scale the caption, and the text colour and outline colour pickers to restyle it. The ALL CAPS toggle lets you keep your original capitalisation instead of forcing uppercase.

What image formats can I use?

Any image your browser can open works — JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame) and more. The exported meme is always a PNG so the text stays crisp.

Why is the Download button disabled?

Download is only enabled once an image has loaded successfully. If an image fails to load (for example a corrupt or unsupported file), you will see a short message — just choose a different image and try again.
