Reaction Time Test
How fast are your reflexes? Wait for the box to turn green, then click as quickly as you can. Everything runs in your browser.
How the reaction test works
- Click the box to start, then it turns red — wait.
- The moment it turns green, click or tap as fast as you can.
- Your time appears in milliseconds; keep going to improve your best and average.
A small part of the number is your screen and mouse, not just you. Clicking before green counts as "too soon" and restarts the round, so there is no way to cheat the timer.

Frequently asked questions
How is reaction time measured?
The box turns green at a random moment, and the timer records the gap between that and your click or tap, using the browser's high-resolution clock. The random delay stops you from anticipating it.
What is a good reaction time?
For a visual signal like this, an average around 200–250 ms is typical, under 200 ms is fast, and top gamers and athletes reach the 150 ms range. A few milliseconds also go to your screen and mouse.
Why did it say “Too soon”?
You clicked before the box turned green. Wait for green, then click — clicking early does not count and simply restarts the round.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Tap the box instead of clicking. Touch screens add a little latency, so your numbers may be slightly higher than on a mouse.
How do I get a fair score?
Take several goes — the test keeps your best time and a running average. Five or more attempts gives a steadier picture than a single click.
Is it free and private?
Completely free, no sign-up, and private — everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
