GPA Calculator
Add your courses with their credit hours and grades to compute a weighted GPA on the 4.0 scale, your total credit hours and an optional cumulative GPA. Everything runs in your browser — your data is never sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
How to use the GPA calculator
- Pick Letter grade for the standard 4.0 drop-down, or Grade points to type exact values.
- Add a row for each course with its credit hours and grade. Course names are optional.
- The weighted GPA and total credits update live as you type.
- To get your cumulative GPA, tick the box and enter your prior GPA and the credits it covered.
The weighted formula is GPA = sum(credits × gradePoints) / sum(credits), shown to two decimals.
Rows with zero or blank credit hours are ignored.

Frequently asked questions
How is GPA calculated?
Your GPA is a weighted average of grade points by credit hours. For each course multiply its grade points by its credit hours, add those products together, then divide by the total credit hours: GPA = sum(credits × gradePoints) / sum(credits). The result is shown to two decimal places.
What do the letter grades map to?
On a standard 4.0 scale: A+ / A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0 and F = 0.0. If your school uses different values, switch to grade points mode and type the exact number.
What is the difference between letter grades and grade points?
Letter grade mode gives you a drop-down of A+ through F mapped to the 4.0 scale. Grade points mode lets you type the exact point value for each course (for example 3.67 or 4.3) when your institution does not follow the standard mapping.
How do I compute my cumulative GPA?
Fill in your prior GPA and the prior credit hours those grades were earned over. The calculator blends them with your current courses so you see both this term's GPA and your overall cumulative GPA.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. You can close the page at any time and your entries are gone.
What are credit hours?
Credit hours (sometimes called units) measure how much a course counts toward your degree and toward your GPA. A heavier course with more credit hours pulls your average more than a lighter one, which is why GPA is a weighted — not a simple — average.
