Ideal Weight & Body Fat Calculator

Estimate your ideal body weight with the Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi formulas, see a healthy-weight range from BMI, and gauge your body-fat percentage with the US-Navy method. Everything runs in your browser — your data is never sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

How to use the ideal weight calculator

  1. Choose Metric or Imperial units and your gender.
  2. Enter your height, weight and age. Results compute automatically as you type.
  3. For a body-fat estimate, add your waist and neck measurements (plus hip for women), measured with a soft tape.

The four formulas give slightly different ideal weights because each uses a different base and per-inch increment; the BMI range (18.5–24.9) is a broader healthy target. The US-Navy body fat uses circumference measurements and log10 math, so measure carefully for the best estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How is ideal weight calculated?

This tool uses four widely cited clinical formulas — Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi — each based on your height and gender. They all start from a base weight at 5 feet (152 cm) and add a fixed amount per inch above that, so the results differ slightly. We also show a healthy-weight range derived from a BMI of 18.5–24.9 for your height.

What is the US-Navy body-fat method?

It is a circumference-based estimate that uses log10 of your body measurements. For men it needs height, waist and neck; for women it adds the hip measurement. It is a quick, equipment-free estimate — less precise than a DEXA scan or calipers, but useful for tracking change over time.

Which ideal-weight formula should I trust?

No single formula is "correct" — they are all population averages and none accounts for muscle mass, frame size or body composition. Treat the spread between them, and the BMI healthy range, as a sensible target band rather than one exact number.

What do the body-fat categories mean?

The US-Navy result is classified against common fitness bands: essential fat, athletic, fitness, average and obese. The thresholds differ for men and women because women carry more essential fat.

Does it work with pounds and inches?

Yes. Toggle between Metric (cm / kg) and Imperial (in / lb) at the top of the tool. All measurements are converted internally so the formulas stay accurate whichever units you enter.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. The results are an estimate for general information only and are not medical advice; consult a healthcare professional for personal guidance.
