What does the IP Address Lookup show?

For any public IPv4 or IPv6 address it shows the country, region, city, postal area, coordinates, time zone and the ISP / organisation / ASN that announces the address. It is a network and diagnostics helper.

How accurate is the location?

Geo-IP is an estimate. Country accuracy is high, but city-level accuracy varies and can be off — especially on mobile networks, VPNs and corporate ranges. It reflects the network, not a precise device location.

Does it store my IP or the ones I look up?

No. The lookup runs to return the result for that request and nothing is stored in a database or log by this tool. The data comes from a public geo-IP service.

Can I look up IPv6 and my own IP?

Yes. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported, and leaving the box empty looks up your own public IP automatically.

Why do a VPN or proxy show a different country?

Because the lookup sees the exit server's IP, not your real one. That is expected — it is one signal used in fraud checks (see the payment and BIN tools).
