Markdown Table Generator

Fill in an editable grid, set the alignment of each column, and copy a clean GitHub-Flavored-Markdown table — generated live. Paste CSV or TSV to import, or switch to HTML output. Everything runs in your browser — your data is never sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

Paste CSV / TSV to import

Paste rows copied from a spreadsheet, or comma / tab separated text. The first row becomes the header.

How to use the Markdown table generator

  1. Type directly into the grid — each cell is editable, like a spreadsheet.
  2. Use Add row / Add column to resize, and the × on a header to delete a column or row.
  3. Set each column's alignment (left, center or right) from the buttons in its header.
  4. Copy the live Markdown output, or switch to HTML if you need a web table.

The separator row controls alignment: :--- is left, :--: is centered and ---: is right-aligned. A literal | in a cell is escaped as \| so it does not break the table.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Markdown table?

A Markdown table is plain text that renders as a grid. Rows use the | (pipe) character to separate cells, and a second row of dashes such as --- marks the header. This generator produces GitHub-Flavored Markdown, which works on GitHub, GitLab, Reddit, Obsidian, Notion and most Markdown editors.

How do I set column alignment?

Use the alignment buttons above each column. Left adds :---, center adds :--: and right adds ---: to the separator row. Your renderer then aligns every cell in that column the same way.

How do I add or remove rows and columns?

Use the Add row and Add column buttons to grow the grid, and the small × control on each row or column header to remove it. The Markdown output updates live as you edit.

Can I import data from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Copy cells from Excel, Google Sheets or a CSV file and paste them into the Paste CSV / TSV box, then click Import. Tab-separated data (straight from a spreadsheet) and comma-separated data are both detected automatically.

What happens to pipe characters in my text?

A literal | inside a cell would break the table, so it is automatically escaped as \| in the output. You can type pipes freely in the grid.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The grid, the Markdown and the HTML output are generated entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored.
