Time Duration Calculator
Find the hours and minutes between two times, add or subtract time from a clock time, or measure the gap between two date-times. Everything runs in your browser — your data is never sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
How to use the time duration calculator
- Choose Time between to find the span from a start time to an end time — perfect for timesheets and work hours.
- For a shift that passes midnight, tick Ends next day (or set a day offset for longer spans).
- Use Add / subtract to shift a clock time forward or back by days, hours and minutes.
- Use Date-time difference to measure the gap between two full date-and-time values.
The duration is shown three ways: as hours:minutes, as total minutes, and as
decimal hours — the format payroll and billing systems usually expect.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the time between two times?
Pick the Time between mode, enter a start and an end time (for example 09:00 and 17:30), and the result shows instantly as hours and minutes, as total minutes, and as decimal hours. It is ideal for working out timesheet hours.
How do I handle an overnight shift that ends the next day?
If the end time is earlier on the clock than the start time — say a shift from 22:00 to 06:00 — tick Ends next day, or use the day offset field for spans crossing more than one midnight. The calculator then adds the extra day(s) before measuring the duration.
How does adding or subtracting time work?
In the Add / subtract mode, enter a base clock time, choose Add or Subtract, and type an amount in days, hours and minutes. The result is the new clock time; if it crosses midnight you will see a +N days (or -N days) note next to it.
What is the difference between total minutes and decimal hours?
Total minutes expresses the whole duration as a single minute count (so 1 h 30 m is 90 minutes). Decimal hours expresses it as hours with a fraction (1 h 30 m is 1.5 hours) — the format most payroll and billing systems expect.
Can it measure the gap between two dates?
Yes. The Date-time difference mode takes two full date-and-time values and reports the gap between them as days, hours and minutes, which is useful for durations that run across several days.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser using plain JavaScript — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored.
