Are the passwords generated safely?
Yes. They are created in your browser using the cryptographically-secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored — refresh and the password is gone.
What makes a strong password?
Length matters most: 16+ characters with a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and symbols. Longer random passwords are exponentially harder to crack. Use a unique one per site and a password manager to store them.
Should I avoid similar-looking characters?
If you may type it by hand, enable "Avoid ambiguous" to drop characters like 0/O and 1/l/I. For passwords you copy-paste into a manager, leave them in for more variety.
How is the strength estimated?
The meter estimates entropy from the length and the size of the character set you enabled. It is a guide — more length and more character types both raise it.
Do you log the passwords?
No. This tool never transmits or stores what it generates. For maximum safety, generate the password and paste it straight into your password manager.
