What does the SSL Certificate Checker do?
It connects to a domain over HTTPS, reads the TLS/SSL certificate it presents, and shows the issuer, the valid-from and valid-to dates, how many days remain, the signature algorithm and the host names the certificate covers. It is a read-only diagnostics tool.
What do the statuses mean?
Valid — the certificate is within its validity window. Expiring soon — it expires within 15 days (renew it). Expired — the valid-to date has passed and browsers will warn visitors. Not valid yet — the valid-from date is in the future.
Does it verify the full chain or trust?
It reads the leaf certificate the server presents and reports its details. It does not judge full-chain trust or revocation — use it to check expiry, coverage and issuer quickly.
Why can't it read some sites?
The tool needs to open an HTTPS connection to port 443. If the domain is unreachable, resolves to a private/blocked host, or does not serve HTTPS, no certificate can be read. Enter the bare domain (for example example.com).
Do you store the domains I check?
No. The check runs to produce the result for that request and nothing is stored in a database or log by this tool.
