What is a HEX color?

A HEX color is a six-digit code written after a #, such as #1d64d8. The three pairs of hexadecimal digits give the red, green and blue channels from 00 to ff (0 to 255). It is the most common way to write colors in HTML and CSS.

What are RGB and HSL?

RGB describes a color by its red, green and blue amounts, each from 0 to 255 — for example rgb(29,100,216). HSL describes the same color by hue (0–360°), saturation (0–100%) and lightness (0–100%), such as hsl(214,76%,48%). Both point to the same on-screen color, just expressed differently.

How do I convert HEX to RGB?

Split the six hex digits into three pairs and convert each pair from base 16 to a number 0–255. For #1d64d8: 1d = 29 (red), 64 = 100 (green), d8 = 216 (blue), giving rgb(29,100,216). This tool does it instantly — just type a value in any field.

What is HSL good for?

HSL makes colors easy to adjust intuitively: change the hue to shift the color around the wheel, lower the saturation toward grey, or raise the lightness toward white — all without recalculating raw RGB channels. It is handy for building tints, shades and consistent color palettes.

Do you support alpha or transparency?

This converter works with opaque colors only — it does not include an alpha (transparency) channel, so formats like rgba() or 8-digit HEX are not converted. Every color is treated as fully opaque.

Do you support 3-digit HEX?

Yes. A shorthand like #1a2 is expanded to #11aa22 by doubling each digit, and you can type the value with or without the leading #. Invalid or partial input is simply ignored until it forms a complete color.

Is my color data stored?

No. All conversion runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is stored. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.
